Physical
Education
The P.E. program enables all students to participate in a variety of sport and recreational activities where all ability levels are catered for. The program has both practical and theory components. Students learn about human movement, fitness, first aid, coaching skills, anatomy, teamwork and leadership. The program provides a pathway for students to succeed in Physical Education in Year 12.
The College has a strong sporting tradition and is involved in:
- Athletic competitions
- The Vista weekly sport program
- Lightning programs
- State Knockout competitions
- The annual Windsor/Cheltenham Exchange to Melbourne
Health
The health program is incorporated into both the P.E. and Home Economics courses. It provides students with a balanced approach to health education. The health program aims to develop skills in communication, making informed decisions and positive life choices.
Topics covered include:
- Growth and development
- Sexuality (using the SHINE program)
- Nutrition
- Healthy Lifestyles
- Drugs and alcohol
- Relationships
Senior years students can also achieve Certificate II in Community Services.
Home
Economics
The
various Home Economics courses available at the College aim to ensure
students have the knowledge and skills needed for life. Students learn
about safety, hygiene, nutrition, health related issues, food traditions
of other cultures, child development, fashion, design and the hospitality
industry. They also learn how to manage resources such as time, energy
and money while preparing and serving nutritious food for people of
different age groups and in different social settings, or by designing
and sewing an original creation. Students work either independently
or as a team to develop skills in planning, organising, decision making,
problem solving, cooking, sewing, using various technologies and effective
communication. Within the Home Economics Centre, students have access
to facilities such as the commercial kitchen, a sewing/textiles room
and a computer suite.
Hospitality
Senior years students can also achieve:
- Certificate I and II in Hospitality (Kitchen)
- Certificate I and II in Hospitality (Front of House)
